Who is the Greatest?

While driving to work this morning, a song on K-LOVE caught my attention. The line ‘don’t you know that the first will be last and the last get a crown?’ was exactly what I had been thinking about. Pastor Tom’s message this past week was taken from Matthew 18: 1-5 when Jesus asked…Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

In the world, everyone wants to be the first. The first in line to eat.  The first in line to bat.   The first in line to get tickets.   The first in line for….???

In your faith, to step back and see others and help others really has a bigger reward!

So take a moment to read and take these lyrics to heart.

Broken Things

By: Matthew West

If grace is a kingdom
I’ve stopped at the gate
Thinking I don’t deserve to pass through after all of the mistakes I’ve made
But I heard a whisper
As Heaven bent down
Said, “Child, don’t you know that the first will be last and the last get a crown?”

Now I’m just a beggar in the presence of a King
I wish I could bring You so much more
But if it’s true You use broken things
Then here I am Lord, I am all Yours

The pages of history they tell me it’s true
That it’s never the perfect; it’s always the ones with the scars that You use
It’s the rebels and the prodigals; it’s the humble and the weak
The misfit heroes You chose
Tell me there’s hope for sinners like me

Grace is a kingdom
With gates open wide
There’s seat at the table just waiting for you
So, come on inside

One Comment on “Who is the Greatest?”

  1. Amen! This made me think about years ago when there was a potluck or dinner at church. The joke was to always sit at the table where John Mizerek was sitting because his table was always called to the serving table first. That is not the only reason to sit at his table. John was full of the love of Jesus and openly shared this love with others. A much better reason to be near him.
